IVF patients are intelligent enough to know that not all IVF clinics are created equal.
If you want to be able to find the best IVF doctor for your treatment, they know they need to ask questions to check how competent the clinic is.
These generic questions include:
How
many IVF cycles have you done to date ?
How
many IVF cycle do you do every year ?
|What
is your success rate ?
The sad reality is that IVF clinics will often lie , and they make all kinds of tall claims regarding their success rates. They inflate these as much as they like, and its is impossible for anyone to prove they are lying, which is why they can afford to get away with quoting ridiculously high success rates such as 80% , which is clearly ridiculous !
Sadly, because they are not answerable to anyone, no one can challenge them , and they continue getting away with being able to take patients for a ride .
This puts patients in an extremely difficult situation , who therefore learns not to trust any IVF clinic, and treats all their claims with a large pinch of salt.
After all, how do you know if the IVF doctor sitting in front of you is a good doctor or a bad doctor , when they all say the same thing ?
After all, if you didnt think they were good, you would never have gone to them in the first place ?
This is a terrible situation for patients and a for the good IVF clinics as well, because the malpractices which bad IVF clinics indulge in end up giving all IVF clinics a bad reputation .
And once a patient has a bad experience in a bad IVF clinic , they lose confidence in all IVF clinics , and refuse to take treatment anymore , because the burnt child dreads the fire .
This is where one would have hoped that the government would step in and establish regulations, in order to check these malpractices, and stop bad IVF clinics from taking patients for a ride .
However, this has not happened .
In other parts of the world such as the USA, medical associations of IVF specialists have been responsible for self-regulation , but unfortunately that hasn't happened in India , because most IVF doctors have large egos , and are not very interested in cooperating to make sure that patients get the best possible IVF care , because they are too busy competing among themselves in order to make the most money.
Please do your research before selecting an IVF clinic - this can make a world of a difference to whether you end up with a baby to take home !
